At Recombinomics.co, Herny L Ninman, PhD is a researcher who believes that a pipe company in Wynwood is the Miami Ground Zero for the locally-transmitted Zika Virus. He says,in his blog Alarming Mosquito Spread of Zika in Wynwood Florida, “Stored at the company’s sites were pipes of a variety of sizes as well as cement buckets, which would provide an ideal environment for mosquito breeding”. Although the CDC or any other organization does not provide detailed patient information, Dr. Ninman has used media reports and other public sources to form his conclusion.

For those of us at Miami Zika News, Wynwood is our home and like many other business owners, we would like to know more detailed information on the exact locations where Zika is alleged to have been locally transmitted. We know that there are community members that are against the aerial spraying but perhaps they might also focus on the issue of mosquito control and open pipes. Perhaps new city ordinances are needed in Miami to combat the spread of the Zika virus. Maybe one of our nation’s Entomologists or Mosquito Control experts could weigh in on this (http://twitter.com/ZikaMiami).
The above property was sold to a large real estate company in September 2015 so hopefully this may someday be a non-issue. But until then, with this commercial business so close some of the local Wynwood businesses and some of our favorite restaurants and bars, it is very large concern.
